Breast Cancer Awareness Fabrics
And Free Pattern!

Windham Fabrics just came out with eight new “breast cancer awareness” fabrics and we have them available for purchase in our store. Samples of the designs are shown below. They are very hip, so hurry and get yours while they last! You can also download a FREE “Hope” quilt pattern.

In 2009, 40,170 women in the United States died from breast cancer. Thanks to monumental efforts in research and awareness the numbers of women who succumb to this disease are on the decline. None the less it seems that we all know someone whose life has been touched by breast cancer. It might be a friend, relative, or teacher. It may be someone close to you, or just a friend of an acquaintance. But breast cancer seems to touch almost everyone.

October is national breast cancer awareness month. Windham Fabrics makes an effort each year to do our part in fighting the battle to cure this disease. A portion of the proceeds of Fight Like a Girl is donated to the Maurer Foundation to help them in their courageous effort to educate women about breast cancer.

Christmas Stockings for the Troops

Help us support the Blue Star Mothers of Henderson & Boulder City. Every year they send Christmas Stocking to the troops serving overseas. Last year 1288 stockings were sent, over 600 came from those made or collected at our store. That was an amazing job. Well done.  We’ve enlisted the help of many of you, but we need many more stockings than ever before. The number of our men & women away from home grows all the time. This year we’re scheduling one day each month to have volunteers create stockings. We’ve have some fabrics that have been donated. Use our machines or yours. Any help is welcome.

“Fluff & Stuff” with Paula Reid

Is that stack of quilt tops getting higher and higher? Have you always wanted to take your machine quilting skills beyond the “ditch”? Do you want to learn free motion quilting? Have you seen Paula demonstrating on Simply Quilts and wished the episode was longer? Now you can learn the basics and more as Paula walks you through batting choices, the types of needles and thread, how to pin baste correctly, choosing stencils, quilting, and moving those BIG quilts through a standard size home sewing machine. Paula quilts approximately 100 quilts a year for her customers. About 75% of those are at least double bed size. She uses her Fluff & Stuff method to move those big quilts through the machine and she will show you how to start Fluffing & Stuffing Too!

Helldorado Days

The rodeo is here. So is the carnival, food & craft booths. The parade is on Saturday, May 14 @ 7pm. The parade route is on 4th Street from Charleston to Stewart. Come down and wave as our entry goes by. If you would like to participate, find us in the staging area between Charleston & Gass and ride along. Call for details. Come on everybody, COWBOY UP!

Pfaff Club

Attention Pfaff Owners. Did you know we offer a Pfaff Club the second Saturday of every month @ 10am ?

 Come join in. It’s FREE. All you need to bring is yourself. No matter the age your Pfaff, you’re welcome. This is a great way to get the most out of your machine. Come find out what all those extra feet and attachment can do for you. Anything new for your machine or at our store will be spot lighted, get the latest items first and at a 15% discount. The discount is yours to use anytime your in the store. It stays on your record as long as you come to club at least once every quarter. You’ll meet other Pfaff owners, share ideas & favorite projects. Show & Tell is strongly encouraged. Let us see what you’ve been up to.

ArtBeat is a FREE cultural series incorporating family-friendly activities that celebrate and educate the community on diverse world arts, entertainment and traditions with art displays, crafts, demonstrations and concerts beginning at 8 p.m. in the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District. Scheduled performance months include April, May, June, September and October. All performances will take place, rain or shine.
